@saurav: for us the contest was at the Wipro head quarters in Bangalore and they announced the result that day itself and gave us the prizes.

Just a note for people who want to use this algorithm:
for ($i=0; $i<=$combocount; $i++)
should be simplified to
for ($i=1; $i<$combocount; $i++)
as there is no need for 0 (well you sure don't need to calculate it!) or last case (invalid).
Secondly:
Replace decextbin (slow) with either:
$binary = sprintf("%0{$length}b",$i);
or (even faster)
$binary = str_pad(decbin($i), $length, "0", STR_PAD_LEFT);
